Jaime R. Gaitan M.D. graduated from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 2002. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida in 2003. Dr. Gaitan then completed his residency in ophthalmology at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in 2006, followed by a two year fellowship in medical and surgical retina also at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. At Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Dr. Gaitan served as administrative chief of the retinal fellows and was a sub-investigator in several clinical trials. He also contributed to publications in the field of retina and infectious disease. Dr. Gaitan speaks fluent Spanish and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
